The Clock Clock by humans since 1982
Posted by admin in Cool Clock, New Design on May 25th, 2009

Swedish designers Humans since 1982have created a digital clock made of 24 analogue clocks, which spell out the time with their hands.

The designers have also developed a typeface derived from letter forms created by banks of clocks.

The prototype Clock Clock will be exhibited at the Rhosska design museum in Göteborg from June till mid August 2009.

Here’s some text from humans since 1982:
we are designstudents at HDK Göteborg in Sweden and gathered under the name “humans since 1982″.

After having successfully launched our “Surveillance Light” and our lounger “Celebrating the cross 1″ we now developed a prototype of a wall clock: we call it “The clock clock”. Hereby 24 manual alarm clocks show the time in a digital manner.

We also have developed a typefont on this basis. This prototype will be shown at Rhösska design-museum in Göteborg from june till mid of august 2009.

Clock by Christiaan Postma
Posted by admin in Cool Watches on March 2nd, 2009

Clock by Christiaan Postma consists of more than 150 synchronised clock mechanisms, which rotate metal bars that briefly align to spell the appropriate time.

“The word “three” completely appears when it’s exactly 3 o’clock and will then transform again as time passes. The word “four” begins to appear and at exactly 4 o’clock the word “four” is clearly visible. The word “three” is by then totally vanished and no longer readable.”
The clock measures 140 x 140 cm.

Two-timer by Industrial Facility
Posted by admin in Cool Clock, New Design on February 25th, 2009

Designer Sam Hecht of Industrial Facility launched his Two-Timer clocks for Established & Sons, which allow the time in two time zones to be displayed on one clock face.

“It’s as if everyone these days has come from or is going to somewhere else… ” explains Hecht. “Two-Timer is a useful expression of this modern condition, merging two different time zones into one clock.”

TWO-TIMER
Many cities, with London no exception, continue to experience the mass movement of people. It’s as if everyone these days has come from somewhere else. The Two Timer clock acknowledges this modern condition with two clocks sharing the same dial.
How curious an idea - it’s as if a finger has stretched a round clock to form a little corner – an offspring, if you like. Two quartz movements, with a carefully devised dial, are housed in a steel frame.
Designed in two sizes, it will sit happily in the home, the office, the hospital, the hotel, the airline lounge, or the foyer of a financial building. It illustrates that even with different time zones we are of one world.
Clock Delay by StudioBloomm
Posted by admin in Cool Clock, New Design on February 25th, 2009

Dutch designers StudioBloomm have produced a clock that displays the hours, minutes and seconds on three separate cogs.

Here’s some info from the designers:
Concept: We buy products, use products and when they are broken, we throw them away. Rarely we repair. In this way we lose our sense of interest in technology. Clock Delay brings this feeling back.

Technique: A mechanism consisting of three cogwheels: one for hours, one for minutes, and one for seconds. No pointers needed: the time is shown at the point where the wheels nearly meet.

Material: Clock Delay has been carried out in Stainless Steel & Aluminium. Produced in The Netherlands.

Dimensions: L35 W35 H48 cm
Design: STUDIObloomm, Bas van Leeuwen, The Netherlands
